Fort Bend County Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) Program Launch

Fort Bend County has been allocated additional funding to assist households that are unable to pay rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The County has established a new ERA program, in compliance with federal, state and local guidelines, to provide assistance to eligible households through this new rental assistance program.

If you are a Fort Bend County resident and meet income eligibility requirements, you are encouraged to apply for this program. The ERA Program will provide rent and/or utility assistance for up to twelve (12) months, or until funds are exhausted.

This a NEW program, therefore you must apply to be considered. Additional information can be found on the County’s website (www.fortbendcountytx.gov) and the program FAQs.

We encourage you to enroll on the website, if you are unable to enroll on the website you may call the program call center at 281-238-CARE (281-238-2273) and one of our call center representatives will assist you. You only need to enter the information once for your entire household. After your application is complete CLICK “SUBMIT.” After you submit you will receive a CONFIRMATION NUMBER, please keep this number for your records as you will need it for additional information

Required Documentations (PLEASE Upload before submitting this application or Drop-Off at Fort Bend County Office at 1601 Industrial Blvd, Sugarland, TX 77478 before submitting this application.

  • Copy of a valid state or government issued photo ID.
  • Current Rent/Lease Agreement.
  • Provide income prior to March 1, 2020 (provide three (3) check stubs with consecutive date all prior to March 1, 2020)
  • Most recent Utility bill(s) (if applicable)
    • Water
    • Electric
    • Gas
  • Disconnect/Late notice (if applicable)
    • Water
    • Electric
    • Gas
  • Proof of income for the prior two (2) months (2019 TWC Unemployment statements, payroll checks, interest statements).
  • Proof of income loss due to COVID-19 (submit all of the follow):
    • Copy of Form 1040 for 2019 and 2020 as filed with the IRS for the household;
    • Current Texas Workforce Commission award letter and payment history;
    • All pay or wage stubs for the prior two (2) months;
    • Letter from employer, on employer letterhead stating layoff or income loss;
    • Any other Verified loss of stipend showing income loss
  • Child support letter showing reduction
